Germany handed over the new vehicles to the Georgian Army
Georgian Defence Forces were handed over 12 new vehicles purchased by the Federal Republic of Germany for the Georgian side. Minister addressed the guests invited to the official ceremony and thanked the German side for the provided assistance: “The German side has provided us with modern technical means within the “Capacity Building and Enhancement Initiative”, which will significantly improve the logistical capabilities of the Defence Forces.”
Irakli Garibashvili focused on the friendly relationship between Georgia and Germany: “Germany is the active supporter of Georgia`s sovereignty and territorial integrity. We attach great importance to the successful cooperation with Germany in the process of democratic development of the country, modernization and integration into the Euro-Atlantic structures,” declared Minister.
In his address to the audience, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia Hubert Knirsch underlined significance of bilateral cooperation in the field of defence. For the refurbishment of the truck park of the Georgian Defence Forces, a total of 1.5 million Euros was allotted under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence of Germany within the “Capacity Building and Enhancement Initiative “of German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Within the framework of the grant, 8 units of water and 4 units of container carriers were purchased. German Defence Attache to Georgia LTC Uwe Ukerwitz and Georgian Defence Forces representatives attended the official ceremony.
