Defence ministers of Russia and Israel meet in Moscow
Defence ministers of Russia and Israel, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu and Avigdor Lieberman respectively, held negotiations in Moscow.
“It is a pleasure to welcome you here in Moscow. It is a great opportunity to talk over topical and urgent issues concerning situation in Syria. There must be quite many questions about it. Today, it is necessary to discuss everything about situation on borders, in the southern de-escalation zone, where we have agreement with Jordan and the USA”, Sergei Shoigu said.
The head of the Russian military department stressed that situation in Syrian tends to develop positively.
“It improved following the almost bloodless reconciliation in the Eastern Ghouta, Homs as well as after liberation of Yarmouk, the southern suburb of Damascus, from the ISIS”, elaborated Shoigu on the issue.
According to him, environment in the areas controlled now by the Syrian authorities is improving to receive refugees and establish life in peace.
“Power and water supply systems are being recovered; people receive food supplies, the bare necessities and medical assistance”, Shoigu said.
The Russian Defence Minister expressed his regret that Avigdor Lieberman had not managed to join the Israeli Prime Minister and attend the Victory Parade on May 9.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu invited his counterpart to visit the Victory Parade next year.
