Yugoimport’s Black RCWS 12,7 mm Next-Gen Serbian Weapon System Tailored for Modern Warfare
At the recent Partner 2023 defense exhibition in Serbia, Yugoimport SDPR J.P., a leading Serbian defense company, showcased its latest innovation: the Black RCWS 12.7. This Remote Controlled Weapon Station represents a new generation of weapon systems, specially designed for today’s warfare scenarios.
The Black RCWS 12,7 machine gun, developed by Yugoimport SDPR J.P., is a versatile weapon system designed for mounting on a wide range of military vehicles. Whether on armored infantry fighting vehicles, reconnaissance vehicles, tactical trucks, or even patrol ships, this weapon is adaptable to multiple platforms.
The dimensions of the Black RCWS 12,7 are 820 x 620 x 1,680 mm, and it has a weight of 220 kg, including ammunition. The system offers both electrical and manual drive types. It has a 360-degree field of action in traverse and an elevation range from -5° to +50°.
The weapon system utilizes a modernized Zastava M87 heavy machine gun with a 12.7 x 108 mm caliber. The ammunition is fed by a link belt with a capacity of 200 rounds. The muzzle velocity is 845 m/s, and the effective range is 2000 meters. The system has a rate of fire of 600 rounds per minute and features two-axis stabilization.
The day channel of the Black RCWS 12,7 is equipped with a 2.8″ CMOS sensor with 36x magnification. The angle of view ranges from 63,7° to 2,3°. For night operations, the system uses a 640×512 VOX Microbolometer with a spectral range of 7,5- 13,5 μm and a field of view of 10,4° x 8,3°.
An eye-safe laser range finder is also included, with a measuring range of 80-8000 meters and a measuring error of 5 meters.
With a muzzle velocity of 845 m/s and an effective range of 2000 meters, this weapon is capable of penetrating various types of targets, including lightly armored vehicles, field fortifications and even low-flying helicopters. Its 600 rounds per-minute rate of fire and dual-axis stabilization make it a formidable option for neutralizing a variety of threats on the battlefield.
