LGK-82 and GÖZDE Guidance Kits Tested from “Akıncı” UAV 

Turkey has conducted firing tests of the LGK-82 and GÖZDE guidance kits from the “Akıncı” unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

Polygonjournal reports, citing “Baykar”, that during the tests, the LGK-82 was used against a stationary armoured target, while the GÖZDE was employed against a remotely controlled moving vehicle target.

It was reported that both designated targets were hit with full precision during the tests.

The LGK-82 is a laser guidance kit developed by ASELSAN. The system converts 500-pound-class MK-82, as well as 250 kg-class OFAB-250T and QFAB-250 LG aerial bombs into precision-guided munitions.

The LGK-82 consists of a semi-active laser seeker head, a guidance unit and a rear tail section. It is designed for use against laser-designated stationary and moving targets. The system provides high-precision strike capability, reduced collateral damage and the ability to retarget after release.

When launched from fighter aircraft, the LGK-82 has an operational range of up to 12 km, while its range when released from UAVs is up to 4.6 km. The guidance kit has a circular error probable (CEP) of less than 10 metres and can be used during both day and night operations. It can be integrated with the F-4, F-15, F-16, Su-25, “Akıncı”, “Hürkuş”, “Aksungur” and ANKA III platforms.

GÖZDE is a next-generation guidance kit developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE and manufactured by ASELSAN. It converts existing MK-82 general-purpose aerial bombs into guided smart munitions using inertial navigation system (INS), global positioning system (GPS) and a laser seeker head. GÖZDE provides precision strike capability, particularly against high-speed moving targets.

The system supports several guidance modes, including laser/INS/GPS, laser/INS, INS/GPS and INS-only modes. When released from high altitude, GÖZDE has a maximum engagement range of 15 nautical miles (approximately 28 km) from fighter aircraft and 8 nautical miles (approximately 15 km) from UAVs.

In laser-guidance mode, GÖZDE achieves a CEP of less than 3 metres against stationary targets and less than 10 metres against moving targets. The system can be employed against targets moving at speeds exceeding 50 km/h.

GÖZDE has reportedly been certified for the “Akıncı”, F-16 PO-III and F-4E/2020 platforms. During a test conducted on 27 February 2025, the system demonstrated its capability against moving targets by hitting a vehicle travelling at 80 km/h with full precision.
