MKE Delivers Another DENİZHAN-76 National Naval Gun

The ninth DENİZHAN-76 national naval gun, which will be integrated into the 11th vessel built under the MİLGEM project, has been delivered to the customer by MKE.

According to information provided by MKE to Polygonjournal, the national naval gun was delivered to the customer after successfully completing its acceptance tests.

With this delivery, MKE has handed over its fourth DENİZHAN-76 gun of the year. A further two DENİZHAN-76 guns are planned to be delivered by the end of the year.

In response to covert embargoes imposed on Türkiye in the naval gun sector, MKE launched a development initiative in 2020 and, within a short period, developed and began producing a 76 mm national naval gun, a calibre of weapon that only a handful of countries worldwide are capable of manufacturing.

The DENİZHAN-76 provides effective firepower against short- and medium-range targets and can perform air defence, surface warfare and naval gunfire support missions against land targets. The high-rate-of-fire system can fire up to 80 rounds per minute and has an effective range of approximately 16 kilometres. The DENİZHAN-76 also stands out for its low-radar-signature design and versatility.

Developed by Turkish engineers, the DENİZHAN-76 national naval gun contributes to the firepower of the Turkish Naval Forces and is also exported to friendly and allied countries. An export agreement for the system was signed with Indonesia in 2025. In 2026, the first DENİZHAN-76 export to Romania, a member of both NATO and the European Union, was completed.

Building on the experience gained during the development and production of the DENİZHAN-76, MKE engineers are intensifying efforts to develop a new 127 mm national naval gun using domestic capabilities and technologies.
