Pakistan has acquired the KORKUT 35 air defence system from Türkiye.
According to Poligonjournal, the acquisition was confirmed in video footage shared on the official social media accounts of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
Released under the title “Guardian of the Atmosphere,” the video features the KORKUT 35 air defence system supplied by Türkiye’s ASELSAN, alongside various Pakistan Air Force aviation assets, radars, electronic warfare systems, command-and-control systems, and other air defence platforms.
The KORKUT 35 is a 35 mm air defence system developed by ASELSAN. The system has a rate of fire of 1,100 rounds per minute and carries 200 rounds of ready-to-fire ammunition. With an effective firing range of 4 kilometres, the KORKUT 35 can track combat aircraft at ranges of up to 35 kilometres.
The air defence system is capable of firing ASELSAN-developed programmable airburst ammunition, including the ATOM 35 ABM. The ATOM 35 ABM and ATOM 35 IABM munitions enable the 35 mm KORKUT system to effectively engage modern aerial threats such as air-to-surface missiles, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
