Türkiye’s STM has demonstrated the capabilities of its TUNGA-X interceptor drone during the TURNAs-2026 exercise.
According to information provided by STM to Poliqonjurnal, the TUNGA-X interceptor drone successfully completed a mission to intercept a simulated enemy unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) during the TURNAs-2026 unmanned maritime systems exercise conducted by the Turkish Naval Forces Command in the Gulf of Antalya and the Eastern Mediterranean.
According to the scenario, the TUNGA-X tracked the target with the support of radar and electro-optical guidance systems, delivered a precision strike, and destroyed it in mid-air.
Developed by STM, the TUNGA-X is designed to protect critical infrastructure and military units, particularly against low-cost loitering munition threats. Capable of reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h, the system can operate in conjunction with UAV detection radars to track threats in real time. Featuring image-processing-based autonomous target tracking and precision engagement capabilities, the TUNGA-X offers a cost-effective interception solution against asymmetric aerial threats.
Thanks to its vertical take-off capability, which eliminates the need for a launch system, the TUNGA-X can be deployed from various platforms. It is capable of conducting operations both day and night. With an operational range of up to 25 kilometres, autonomous mission capabilities, and advanced sensors, the system aims to contribute to strengthening Türkiye’s defences against UAV threats.
