As part of a project implemented under the coordination of the General Directorate of Military Factories, affiliated with Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defence, MKE has delivered another batch of E-ZPT electric armoured personnel carriers to the Turkish Land Forces.
According to information provided by MKE to Polygonjournal, three additional E-ZPT vehicles that successfully completed demanding field trials have been delivered to the Turkish Land Forces.
A total of 50 vehicles are planned to be added to the inventory of the armed forces under the project.
Through its electrification projects, MKE aims to reduce foreign dependency on powertrain systems for vehicles already in the inventory. In addition to armoured personnel carriers, MKE can equip various models of armoured and off-road vehicles with fully electric powertrains, enabling existing vehicles to be returned to service and extending their operational service life.
This transformation contributes to reducing the need to procure new vehicles and lowering maintenance costs, while also supporting the resilience of logistical support.
Developed by MKE through the modernisation of the M113 series armoured personnel carrier, the E-ZPT has undergone numerous demanding trials involving simulations of realistic scenarios that could be encountered on the battlefield.
As part of the carrier’s qualification process, the vehicle successfully completed 3,000 kilometres of endurance testing, 1,600 kilometres of off-road trials, 800 kilometres of asphalt-road testing and 600 kilometres of gravel-road trials.
In addition to tests involving gradients of up to 60%, side slopes of 30% and trench crossing, the E-ZPT demonstrated reliable performance in extremely hot and cold weather conditions. The vehicle can carry a total of seven personnel, including the driver-mechanic, commander, gunner-operator and four crew members.
Developed by MKE engineers, the E-ZPT combines environmentally friendly technologies with high safety standards.
The E-ZPT has an operational range of 150 kilometres on its onboard battery pack and 650 kilometres with power supplied by its generator. It can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in just eight seconds. Using its fast-charging system, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in 1.5 hours.
Featuring a high-safety battery architecture, the E-ZPT offers an effective solution for modern defence requirements. In addition to low maintenance and repair costs, the armoured personnel carrier is compatible with various types of mission payloads.
Thanks to its fully electric drive system, the vehicle produces a lower acoustic and thermal signature. It has an approximate fully loaded weight of 15 tonnes and can carry a payload of 2.5 tonnes. Equipped with modern technologies, the vehicle is also fitted with a 12.7 mm remotely operated weapon system.
