
The US Department of State has approved the sale of UH-60M “Black Hawk” helicopters to Norway, valued at $2.3 billion.
Polygonjournal reports, citing the US Department of State, that the proposed sale includes 21 UH-60M “Black Hawk” helicopters, weapons systems and other equipment, as well as repair, maintenance and logistics support.
The main contractor for the sale will be US-based “Sikorsky”, a subsidiary of “Lockheed Martin”.
The proposed sale is expected to enhance Norway’s interoperability with its NATO allies and strengthen its aviation capabilities. The UH-60M helicopters will also support the Norwegian Army and Special Operations Forces in enhancing their independent operational capabilities.
