Kazakhstan’s first Y-8 transport aircraft makes maiden flight in China
On June 14, еhe first of the Kazakh Air and Air Defence Forces’ new Y-8F200WA tactical transport aircraft, performed its maiden flight at the Shaanxi Liugu Airport in Chenggu, the CAN Press reported.
According to the Chinese media, Air China International Aviation related leaders, deputy general managers of the company Liu Bin, Zou Shuo, and the heads of relevant units attended the first flight ceremony of the new Y-8F200WA tactical transport aircraft produced for Kazakhstan.
The Y-8F-200WA aircraft exported to Kazakhstan is a major cooperation project between the company and AVIC International Holding Corporation to jointly develop the international military trade market. It is also the first time that Yunqi aircraft has entered the CIS countries market.
The Y-8F-200WA is an upgraded version of the Chinese medium-size, medium-range transport aircraft designed and manufactured by China’s Shaanxi Aircraft Company. Based on the Antonov An-12 aircraft, the Y-8 is used for military and commercial operations. It is used for transporting troops, dropping supplies and functioning as an air ambulance. /Defence Blog
