Azerbaijani SBS presented new SkyStriker loitering munition

Azerbaijani State Border Service purchased SkyStriker loitering munition (LM) from Israel’s Elbit Systems company.

RDS informs, the new weapon and equipment were presented during the visit of the President Ilham Aliyev to the military base of SBS. For the first time the SkyStriker LM was presented during the event.

SkyStriker loitering munition can carry load of 5 or 10 kg. SkyStriker differs from its analogues by electrical engines which makes no sound. The speed of UAV – 185 kmph and endurance is 2 hours. Kamikadze strikes the aim with the speed of 300 knts.

SkyStriker is able to locate, acquire and strike operator-marked targets with high-precision performance. The system’s electric propulsion provides a low acoustic signature and enables covert low altitude operations.

SBS of Azerbaijan is the first foreign operator of SkyStrike.

As per now, SBS uses Harop loitering munitions of IAI company. “Harops” were used during 5 days war in April 2016.
