Today, light tactical vehicles are a key element of modern military forces providing a high level of mobility and which can be used to perform a wide range of missions. According to the experience acquired by modern armed forces during recent military operations, especially in Afghanistan and Iraq, these vehicles have shown weaknesses in the face of new threats and more particularly against Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). By developing the HUMVEE NXT 360, AM General responded to these various needs and threats of the modern battlefield.
The NXT 360 is available in two variants that can be motorized with a 205 hp. turbocharged Diesel engine and the NXT 360 ES powered by a 250 hp turbocharged Diesel engine coupled to a 6-speed electronically controlled transmission. NXT 360™ ES variant also includes long-travel suspension for increased maneuverability over the toughest of terrains. The NXT 360 ES can be fitted with bolt-on armor for a higher level of kinetic energy protection.
The NXT 360 is based d on proven HUMVEE light tactical vehicle configuration for maximum commonality, simplified maintenance, and streamlined fleet sustainment. The vehicle has a crew of two and can be configured to accommodate 4 to 6 soldiers.
The NXT 360 features many new improvements including a 360° kinetic energy threat protection. The vehicle floor provides blast threat protection for front and rear wheels and center undercarriage. The vehicle is also fitted with anti-blast seats, a floating floor, and transparent armor. Despite this increase of protection and its weight of 6.396 kg, the vehicle maintains an Exceptional speed, mobility, and agility across any rugged terrain in all weather conditions.
The roof of NXT 360 can be fitted with a remotely operated weapon station that can be armed with one 12.7mm heavy machine or a 40mm automatic grenade launcher.
