Roshel Builds new Senator Variant on Ram Chassis
Ram Professional has announced a new collaboration with Canadian defense manufacturer Roshel to build an updated variant of the Senator armored vehicle using the Ram 5500 Chassis Cab platform.
In a statement, the company said, “With the Ram 5500 Chassis Cab’s outstanding payload capacity and exceptional durability, it’s no wonder the military defense vehicle company, Roshel, is partnering with Ram to produce one of their Senator armored vehicles on the Ram Chassis platform.”
The new version of the Senator is expected to be unveiled later this year at defense industry events and conventions across North America. Ram emphasized that it sees this as the beginning of a growing partnership with what it called a “prominent name in military vehicles.”
Roshel’s current production of the Senator vehicle is based on the Ford chassis, and this new adaptation broadens the modular approach of the Senator platform to meet a wider range of client demands. According to Roshel, the updated configuration will provide defense customers with an expanded range of tactical mobility options, addressing varied payload and survivability requirements in global operations.
Roshel, headquartered in Ontario, has emerged as one of the largest armored vehicle manufacturers in North America. The company has delivered over 3,000 vehicles of various types to clients across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The Senator series includes models designed for border patrol, law enforcement, and military applications, offering varying levels of protection and configuration flexibility.
The decision to integrate the Ram 5500 platform was driven by its durability under rugged operational conditions and its compatibility with high-weight armor packages. The Ram 5500’s proven performance in commercial and emergency service roles made it a viable candidate for adaptation into defense-focused platforms.
Industry observers view the partnership as a response to growing global demand for modular, mission-adaptable armored vehicles that can be produced at scale and supported through reliable supply chains. The use of North American platforms also streamlines service and parts logistics for many end users.
Roshel’s expansion of its product line comes at a time when governments are increasingly seeking flexible, off-the-shelf defense solutions to address emerging security challenges. While Roshel has not disclosed pricing or specific client deliveries for the Ram-based Senator, the company’s growing footprint in export markets signals continued demand for its modular armored platforms.
