Israeli Kamikaze Drone Maker Expands Europe Presence
Israeli-based Uvision, a maker of kamikaze drones, announced on March 26 the establishment of a new European subsidiary in Munich, Germany, aimed at supporting its loitering munition systems and expanding operations across European defense markets.
The company said the move reflects growing demand from European armed forces and follows increased procurement activity in the region. The new subsidiary is intended to position Uvision closer to its customers and reduce response times in operational and logistical support.
According to the company, Uvision Europe GmbH will serve as the central hub for its activities across the continent. The subsidiary will provide customer support, engineering, training, local sourcing and manufacturing, and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) for its systems.
As noted by the company, the move builds on Uvision’s existing presence in Europe and follows its strategic partnership with Rheinmetall, which has expanded the company’s footprint in the region. The partnership has supported integration of Uvision’s systems into European defense programs and procurement frameworks.
The company stated that the new entity will also support localized development projects tailored to European operational requirements. This includes aligning future system upgrades with specific needs of European armed forces and establishing local assembly and production capabilities.
In a statement, Roman Didenco, CEO of Uvision Europe GmbH, said: “As European armed forces accelerate procurement and modernization efforts, the need for trusted, responsive, and locally anchored defense partners has become increasingly important. Uvision Europe is established to address that need, bringing the company closer to its customers and creating the foundations for a progressively independent European operation.”
He added: “This step reflects our long-term commitment to supporting European allies, by deepening our presence in Europe as a committed industrial partner, delivering local capabilities and long-term operational confidence.”
Uvision’s product portfolio centers on loitering munition systems, which are designed to remain airborne over a target area before engaging targets with precision strikes. These systems combine reconnaissance and strike functions, allowing operators to identify and engage targets in real time.
In operational use, loitering munitions are deployed to detect and neutralize targets such as armored vehicles, air defense systems, or personnel, often in environments where traditional artillery or air strikes may be less effective or slower to respond. Their ability to loiter provides flexibility in target selection and timing.
The company said its systems are already fielded by NATO and allied customers and are integrated into procurement frameworks with assigned NATO Stock Numbers (NSNs), indicating standardization and compatibility within alliance logistics systems.
