Preveze class submarines of Turkey Navy will undergo modernization

The agreement for Mid-Life Upgradation of Preveze-Class Submarines Project, has been signed between the Presidency of Defence Industries and the STM-ASELSAN-HAVELSAN-ASFAT partnership.

The signing ceremony at the SSB offices was attended by Prof. Dr. Ismail Demir, President of Defence Industries; Prof. Dr. İhsan Kaya, Chairman of the Executive Board of STM; Reha Denemeç, Member of the Executive Board of STM; Murat Ikinci, General Manager of STM; and representatives of the General Staff, Naval Forces Command and other companies that will be involved in the project.

Under the project, the existing systems of four Preveze-class submarines in the inventory of Naval Forces Command will be upgraded, providing the submarines with new capabilities and enhancing their contributions to naval operations. Once modernized, the four submarines will re-enter service in 2023, 2024, 2026 and 2027.
