MOD of Moldova Present the Achievements within DCBI in Brussels
Representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Moldova are paying a visit to Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium where they are attending the Meeting of the National Points of Contact (POC) for Defence Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI).
Chief of Defense Policy and Planning Directorate, Col. Gheorghe Oarza, and chief of Transformation Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Aurel Fondos, are presenting the report regarding the current stage and the latest evolutions of implementing the DCB assistance package and of the defense capacity building of the Republic of Moldova.
According to Col. Oarza, the activity has the objective to assess, monitor, and exchange experience related to DCBI implementation in the past 5 years, to inform the participants about the most recent achievements of the implementation of the strategic objectives for building the defense sector, to identify the aspects of bilateral cooperation between NATO states and beneficiaries of DCBI assistance, as well as the opportunities for offering additional assistance.
The source mentioned that by attending this meeting, the Ministry of Defense wishes to boost cooperation with strategic development partners and to exchange experience in order to increase the National Army’s defense capacities.
In June, 2015, the Republic of Moldova was accepted by the North Atlantic Alliance as part of the DCBI, while the Ministry of Defense was assigned the responsibility for its implementation.
The DCBI’s objective is the defense capacity building of the Republic of Moldova and includes an assistance package delivered in two phases.
During the first phase, the Ministry of Defense worked together with international experts who provided support and counseling for the development of policy documents.
The first phase ended with the approval of strategic documents on defense planning.
On October 22, 2018, the second phase of DCBI was started by launching the project “Building Capabilities in Military Medicine”. The second phase consists of different assistance domains, including technical, offered to the Republic of Moldova through bilateral relationships that have started or are to be initiated between our country and allied and partner countries.
