Euronaval 2022: Israel Shipyards unveils new S-80 corvette design

Israel Shipyards unveiled its latest design, the S-80 corvette, at the Euronaval 2022 maritime exhibition in Paris.

The ship will be the largest yet to be designed by the company, which has to date specialised on patrol boats, offshore fb8dd254 a0ff 4ecd 9c66 3140aadbd5e0patrol vessels, and missile craft.

The S-80 design is derived from the Israeli Navy’s new Reshef class, which will replace the Sa’ar 4.5 Nirit-class missile craft. With a displacement of just more than 1,000 tonne and a length of 80 m, the new ship offers enhanced seakeeping and endurance, and provides space for gun and missile armament.

The hull is of steel construction, with an aluminium superstructure. Four MTU 16V 4000 series diesel engines in a combined diesel and diesel (CODAD) arrangement will convey a maximum speed of about 30 kt.
