Turkish Aerospace Showcases Multi-Role T625 Gökbey Helicopter at DSA 2024
Turkish Aerospace Industries is presenting the T625 Gökbey Multi-Role Helicopter at the DSA 2024, in Malaysia from May 6 to 9. The Gökbey is engineered to perform optimally in diverse and challenging environments, including high temperatures and altitudes, and under both day and night conditions. Developed using entirely national resources, the helicopter is an outcome of the knowledge and expertise gained from the ATAK Program. It features domestically produced critical components such as structural and avionics systems, transmission, rotors, and landing gear.
The Gökbey is versatile, designed to handle a range of tasks including passenger transport, VIP services, cargo carriage, air ambulance duties, search and rescue operations, and offshore transportation. This marks the first Multi-Role Helicopter manufactured in Turkey using local resources, and it successfully completed its maiden flight at 06:00 on September 6, 2018. Serial production of the helicopter was scheduled to commence in 2021, with certification from the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) and the Civil Aviation General Directorate (SHGM) still pending.
The T625 Gökbey is a sophisticated helicopter tailored to meet the demands of modern aviation. It measures 15.87 meters in length with a main rotor diameter of 13.20 meters and supports a maximum take-off weight of 6,050 kg. Powered by dual engines, each providing 1,024 kW (1,373 shp), the Gökbey achieves a maximum cruise speed of 305 km/h and a service ceiling of 6,096 meters. Its range extends beyond 740 km with endurance times ranging from 3.8 to over 5 hours depending on the mission.
Accommodating a crew of two and up to 12 passengers, the Gökbey features a spacious cabin with a 1,020 kg standard fuel tank and an additional 280 kg auxiliary tank, supplemented by a 1.1 cubic meter cargo bay. Key features include retractable landing gear and a sophisticated glass cockpit with advanced avionics, enhancing navigation and operational ease. The design of the Gökbey focuses on maintenance simplicity, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness, ensuring it meets the needs of both military and civilian operators worldwide.
