GDELS-Steyr to Unveil new Short-Range air Defense System
At the AIRPOWER 24 airshow in Zeltweg, Styria, General Dynamics European Land Systems–Steyr (GDELS–Steyr) is set to unveil the latest variant of its PANDUR 6×6 EVO wheeled armored vehicle.
The new variant of the PANDUR 6×6 EVO is designed specifically for mobile air defense and features the unmanned SKYRANGER 30 turret developed by the German defense conglomerate Rheinmetall.
This addition exemplifies the PANDUR’s high modularity and its capacity to serve multiple roles effectively. The SKYRANGER 30 turret is geared to enhance the vehicle’s capability to protect infantry forces against both manned and unmanned aerial threats, aligning with the Austrian Army’s strategic “defend-the-defender” concept.
The introduction of the SKYRANGER 30 turret transforms the PANDUR 6×6 EVO into a highly mobile system that is exceptionally well-suited against enemy drones.
The PANDUR 6×6 EVO’s deployment is significant for the Austrian Army as it seeks to bolster its defensive capabilities amidst evolving global threats. By integrating advanced unmanned technology into its armored vehicles, the Austrian Army enhances its operational readiness and effectiveness in protecting its forces.
