Türkiye sets new defense export record
Türkiye continues to strengthen its position in the global defense industry, setting new records in exports and advancing its strategic partnerships.
At the Defense and Aerospace Industry Global Strategies Conference 2025, Haluk Görgün, Secretary of Turkish Defence Industries, highlighted Türkiye’s $7.154 billion in defense exports, a 29% growth over the previous year, reflecting the country’s expanding role in the international defense sector.
Addressing the conference, Görgün emphasized that Türkiye’s achievements are not just economic milestones but represent a broader vision of defense independence. Türkiye’s defense industry has now reached 185 countries, exporting 230 types of domestically produced defense systems, showcasing its commitment to self-reliance and technological leadership.
The country’s “National Technology Initiative” has fueled the rapid growth of its defense sector, enabling Türkiye to move beyond being just a supplier to becoming a strategic defense leader. Görgün reiterated that Türkiye is building not only a robust defense industry for its allies but also an ecosystem for groundbreaking technological exports.
Türkiye’s defense systems, proven in real combat environments, are now in high demand worldwide. Companies such as Baykar, Roketsan, and ASELSAN have led the industry’s transformation, delivering advanced UAVs, missile systems, and electronic warfare solutions to international partners.
The growth of Türkiye’s defense sector aligns with the government’s long-term goal of achieving full strategic autonomy in defense. Görgün emphasized that Türkiye is no longer just an arms exporter but is actively shaping the future of global defense markets through indigenous technologies and international cooperation.
The country’s deterrence strategy is built on the continuous development of cutting-edge systems, ensuring that Türkiye remains a key player in global defense. Görgün stated that every step taken in defense innovation contributes to Türkiye’s role as a game-changer in the global security landscape.
With strong international demand, increasing investment in R&D, and expanding partnerships, Türkiye is on track to become a leading force in the global defense market. The record-breaking export figures and strategic initiatives at the 2025 conference reinforce Türkiye’s commitment to a fully independent, powerful, and self-sustaining defense industry.
