LAHAB Conducts First test Firing of 155mm Artillery Ammunition

LAHAB, a company belonging to the EDGE Group of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has successfully conducted the first dynamic test firing of its 155mm ERFB (Extended Range Full Bore) artillery ammunition.

According to EDGE, Poliqonjurnal reports that the test firings of the ammunition, designed and manufactured in-house by the company, delivered the expected results.

All projectiles fired from a gun with a 52-calibre barrel followed their pre-calculated trajectories and landed within the target area. This demonstrated consistent shot grouping and low dispersion.

The purpose of the test was to verify the ammunition’s compatibility with weapon systems designed in accordance with the Joint Ballistics Memorandum of Understanding (JBMOU) standard; assess the correlation between theoretical and measured in-bore pressure values and between predicted and actual impact points; and verify the structural integrity of the projectile components. Successful results were achieved against all these criteria.

In the next phase, tests will be conducted at a dedicated test range to quantitatively assess the ammunition’s performance. This will be followed by qualification trials to verify compliance with military standards (MIL-STD) and NATO Standardization Agreement STANAG 4224. The qualification phase will be another key milestone in confirming the ammunition’s safety and suitability for service.
