Swiss Armed Forces Select L3Harris Technologies to Provide WESCAM MX-RSTA EO/IR Land Sight

L3Harris Technologies WESCAM MX™-RSTA land sighting system has been selected by Armasuisse, the Swiss federal office for defense procurement, as the electro-optic/infra-red (EO/IR) sighting sensor of choice for the Swiss Armed Forces’ new TASYS tactical reconnaissance system.

l3L3Harris will supply 100 WESCAM MX-RSTA sensors for the TASYS program, which will have vehicles fielded between the years 2023 and 2025. WESCAM MX-RSTA is a key element of the intelligence gathering solution for the TASYS platform, providing long-range state-of-the-art reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition capabilities.

The WESCAM MX-RSTA was successfully integrated onto the newly contracted General Dynamics European Land Systems’ Mowag EAGLE 6×6 vehicle for extensive technical and user evaluations trials. The sensor was mounted on a telescopic mast for mobile and static surveillance. Trial results included higher performance and stabilization control when compared to competing systems.

Armasuisse is the first European land force to field the WESCAM MX-RSTA in a significant quantity which further extends the established WESCAM MX product line into the land domain. WESCAM MX-Series land products have been selected by several U.S. and international vehicle OEMS for U.S. DODs and their domestic programs.

L3Harris currently operates over 5,000 WESCAM MX systems worldwide in over 80 countries. Operating across air, land and maritime domains, these intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems have been the eyes of more than 200 different platforms since the early 1990s. L3Harris operates 14 WESCAM Authorized Service Centers and Depots around the world for efficient servicing of MX systems.
